PARTY OF FIVE >>> Bring Back The Good Memories, Please

I remember the first time I caught this series in RCTI, it was aired three times in a week at 2 pm. I was a amazed with how the way the story went. Younger Scott Wolf, Matthew Fox, Lachey Chabert, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Neve Campbell, and Jeremy London played a drama that touched many hearts. I just hate why RCTI aired the good series in the afternoon. Or probably at that period RCTI had other high rated series to air at prime time. But you know I was still at my first year at college when The Salingers had to deal with their domestic problem so when I didn't have any chance to watch it, I beg my sister to tell me the complete detailed story or read the TV guide tabloid. When the series hit its third season, RCTI kindly moved it to midnight. I was like yaay...! Then I never missed every episode till it ended ever since. God, the story, the casts, the memory....

Though starred by some teen idols like Scott Wolf, Neve Campbell, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jeremy London, and Matthew Fox, Party of Five was not a typical teenage story. I could even say that Party of Five was a heavy difficult drama.

The Story begins when a couple is killed by a drunk driver. They leave behind 5 children to care for themselves. The oldest was Charlie Salinger (Matthew Fox), 24 years old or so. He had to take charge and keep his family together so they weren't split up into foster homes. He was an average guy who liked girls and to drink and have fun but all of a sudden became a father of 4 kids in an instance.

Next, Bailey Salinger (Scott Wolf), a 16 years old, and as the series went by Bailey had many problems with things such as drinking, girls, and of course raising a family. In many ways Bailey was the adult. He was a take- charge-type person in which he had to grow up very fast.

Julia Salinger was the next one (Neve Campbell), a 15 years old and was going through a time in her life in which no girl shouldn't have a mother to talk to. Like Bailey, Julia was in a very difficult transformation from being a teenagers to being a mother to all of her siblings

And now we come to child number four Claudia Salinger (Lacey Chabert). This 12 years old girl, like the rest of her siblings had the hardest change in her life. She sometimes witnessed her siblings fight and didn't care about her like she was a little girl who had no emotion, in fact she was mature in many ways.

The youngest of the five is baby Owen (Jacob Smith) and as the series went on, played by different child actors.

There are also some characters around The Salinger. The lovers of the characters such as Sarah Reeves (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Bailey's girlfriend), Griffin Hallbrok (Jeremy London, Julia's boyfriend), or Kirsten Bennet (Paula Devicq, Charlie's fiancé). Those characters made this series more colorful.

About six season (or five? I don't know, I forgot), The Salingers had to deal with each other's issues, their parents' business, the lovers, the school and many other difficult things. Being left by parents had made them appreciate life and brothers and sisters of their owns.

I guess the similar type of the story can be found in Brothers and Sisters though Brothers and Sisters deal with mature characters, but the way they emphasize the message is quite the same: LOve among siblings will make life easier to live.

Ah, RCTI dan serial-serial impor terbaiknya......dulu...
